We recently spent a few days travelling in  Bosnia, and while we were there, we visited Visoko, the site of the oldest pyramids in the world!  As they are so old they are covered in vegetation and look like pyramid shaped hills. Although there has been a lot of controversy about their authenticity, there is compelling evidence they are legitimate and there is ongoing intense archaelogical exploration in the area.

In the valley there is a park that contains a huge network of underground tunnels associated with the pyramid complex and are thought to have a healing purpose. The air is very pure and it’s a lovely place to meditate.

We stayed in a cabin looking across at the Pyramid of the Sun which is larger than the Eygptian pyramids.  In the evening, from the balcony I watched the sun setting over the Pyramid. As the light faded and dusk slowly deepened into night, the first voices of the crickets rose all around me, filling the air with their song.

I took out my sound bowl and began to play, weaving its tones into the natural soundscape. Together, the crickets and the bowl created a living symphony — ancient, timeless, and deeply calming.

In that moment, there was nothing but stillness, beauty, and a profound sense of peace.

The Pyramid of the Sun is part of a remarkable cluster of pyramids in Bosnia, believed by some researchers to be among the oldest in the world. For me, it was a reminder of how nature, sound, and the land itself can connect us to something much greater.
