Life in a Moment
Sometimes I get glimpses,
See things as they really are.
The poetry of early mornings
reveals a gull silhouetted.
Framed for just a moment
in the kitchen window
that faces east.
Black on washed out orange.
I can hear the stillness of the moment.
A point frozen in time and space.
Tactile fingers of grass on the horizon
stretch to the sky.
A furze bush umbrellas as if
on a safari plain.
The light brightens in pale yellow
blackening the field.
It signals an intensity beyond
the garden wall,
while our cars sleep in the shadows
drenched with dew.
